BuddyFetch - dating search engine

logo.gif

Well, it's not only a dating search engine. It's actually a search engine for finding individuals who have profiles on many social networks that are out there, but it's quite easily used for searching for a date. Currently, the search engine retrieves results from these sources - 43 Things, AIM, BEBO, BlackPlanet, Blurty, BookOfMatches, Digg, Espin, Facebook, Flickr, Fotolog, Friendster, Google Talk, Greatest Journal, HI5, Hot or Not, ICQ Messenger, IMVU, Jabber Messenger, Jaiku, LavaPlace, LiveJournal, Meetup, MocoSpace, MSN Messenger, Myspace, NetLog, OkCupid, Paltalk, PlentyofFish, Skype, Stickam, StumbleUpon, Tagged, Tribe, Twitter, Veoh, VOX, WAYN, Webdate, Xanga, Yahoo Personals, YahooIM, YouTube, Zwinky… and they say plenty more are coming in the following months.

There is a simple search interface on BuddyFetch - it lets you enter keywords (best to use personal traits of a person you'd be interested in), select sex (male, female, both), and age. I tried a few simple searches plenty of results pertaining to people interested in dating, although I must point out that some of the results shown are a bit "spam" looking. You can also add your own profile to let the service know where your social profile can be found (basically choose from a list of all the services mentioned earlier). They also ask for your email address, which threw me off a bit - a source network and screen name on that network should be enough.

If you've got a couple of minutes, give BuddyFetch a try and do tell us your impressions.

The new dating comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" has audiences screaming with laughter

News of this dating comedy has already spread by word of mouth. There is quite a bit of nudity in this film but it only serves to shock audiences into laughing. Most of the flashing is done by star Jason Segel.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is a film by budding director Nicholas Stoller. The producer of this movie, Judd Apatow, has produced hits like, "Knocked Up," "The 40 Year Old Virgin," "Superbad," and "Anchorman."

Most of Apatow's movies are signified by their in depth attention to characters. There are really no evil characters in his movies, with most of them ending up being sympathetic in some way by the end of the movie.

The movie is based around Peter Bretter, who composes music for TV shows. He has a supposed girlfriend Sarah Marshall. Peter does everything for Sarah, and she dumps him anyway, for a posh British rocker. To get over the break-up Peter escapes to Hawaii, where he meets the couple on their honeymoon. He stays, but is miserable. At the end he meets a waitress at the resort and makes quite a few new friends.

This comedy is most appropriate for adults. It is not the typical dating-movie, but it has all the elements that make these kinds of movies what they are. So far, it has left audiences wiping away tears of laughter.

Test drive dating - a new kind of speed dating

volvowomen2_m.jpgI am always inspired by the many ways marketers find a way to promote their products. Volvo, the Swedish auto manufacturer, has just announced their latest effort - test drive speed dating. The concept is quite simple actually - singles are invited to a special speed dating event involving a drive in one of the Volvo vehicles, and then given 8 minutes in the front seats. This took place in Sydney, Australia, but there are plans to expand this to other locations "down under".

If you live in Australia, this is great news. I know I wouldn't mind taking the new C class Volvo for a test drive, and getting it on with a beautiful woman next to me. Maybe they could throw in some back seat action, if the couple quickly develops explosive chemistry. ;)
