Mobile dating goes 3G

3gdates.jpgLatest developments in mobile technology have opened many doors for advancements in various areas of mobile usage. Mobile dating is nothing new, it's been around since the introduction of many called "sms dating", but with 3G enabled mobile phones, rich content (video, audio, Flash…) mobile dating is heading into a whole new dimension. 3G Dating Agency is among the first taking the step towards this by introducing mobile dating for 3G mobile phone users.

Sign-up is easy and takes a couple of minutes, after which you can start browsing others' profiles and viewing their photo files or create your own and share with others. One thing that's a bit different is that you don't have to register using your mobile web browser, but also by making a video call to the service. In case all video call operators are busy, you will get a pre-recorded video message with detailed instructions about the sign-up process. 3G video calling is available between members, but the service encourages everyone to do this only when they feel secure about the other person, and advise gentlemen to offer their numbers to the ladies and let them choose.

The service is currently available in the UK and Ireland, but there are plans to expand to other countries. You can still use the service from anywhere, but you can't have video validation. The only cost involved is a mandatory £10 minimum deposit which grants 20 messages (£0.5 per message) towards other members. See plenty more about the way 3G Dating Agency works here.

Sounds like fun, and it's high-tech. What more do you need? ;)

Get to know girls - with a little help from your mobile phone

lynx.jpgUnilever has started a digital campaign in an effort to promote their brand Lynx (UK version of what's known in the US as Axe), the fragrance for boys … er, men. The idea is to help guys in the UK take a step away from computers, and engage in some real life action like meeting girls. The campaign is aimed the the 18-24 year old males target market.

They've launched a whole set of software for your mobile phone that will empower you to easily break the ice and start conversation with a woman. These "weapons of mass seduction" include, among other applications, "Fit Girl Finder" (soundboard that can be used to play the sound of a car being unlocked while standing next to an expensive roadster), Spin the Bottle (turn your mobile phone into a spin-the-bottle device and get her number if it points to her), another soundboard which can be transformed into a harmonica or body-piercing scanner (?!?).

"We're encouraging them to go out to meet girls. What do they have on them all the time, 24/7? They have a phone."

The site, Lynx Effect, features not only a free download of all the mobile phone applications, but also has plenty of other content all aimed at helping you become a seduction master. Among the Weapons of Mass Seduction, I found the Dark Temptation Chocolate E-Card, which supposedly no woman can resist. There is also the Business Card Generator, so you can become a successful CEO of a growing web company in a matter of seconds. If you need to get geared up, there is the Secret Sales website, which helps you get to trendy clothes and accessories for less money. Oh, and almost forgot, probably the best thing I saw there - videos showing masters at work, giving you a unique view of what you should be practicing (chat up lines, approaches, etc). Here's a great example: :)

"These applications are actually compelling because they really do work. They do raise a laugh and they do allow boys to chat up girls."

I don't know if they really work, but they sure raise a laugh. Sounds like a lot of fun, so "get in there". ;)

Motor Flirt is driving and dating - at the same time

motorflirt.jpg

The dating industry is really imaginative these days, with ever more interesting ideas about how to give singles new ways to get in touch with other singles. I came across this service which really struck me as unusual. It's called Motor Flirt, and it's all about connecting singles on the go … literally. The idea is to be able to get in touch with someone you've spotted in a car or on a motorbike. You simply take the registration number from the plate and SMS it to the service along with your message (like "Hey, saw you on Sunset Blvd just now, looking fine. Drink?"), which looks for the number (and the person tied to it) and relays your message to them. Naturally, the driver's privacy (and yours) is secured since communication happens through the service, rather than directly through the mobile phone operator (mobile number).

In order for all this to work, both you and the recipient have to be members, so basically if you've sent someone a message through the service to their registration number, they won't get the message until they are a registered member of the service. This narrows down your possibilities of actually getting your message to them, since you won't know whether their plate number is in the service database. The alternative would be that the service has direct access to the automotive department database, which is not going to happen. Nevertheless, the service is available in the UK, and seems to be catching on, so there's great chance that someone you're interested in that has just driven by is actually a member of this service. Registration is free.

The registration number messaging is available for UK only at this time, although members from around the world are welcome (no messaging using reg numbers, but other web based messaging alternative will work). If you're in the UK, give this a try, it sounds like a lot of fun. Meanwhile, the service may extend to cover other countries as well.

Next2Friends - Bluetooth dating

n2f.jpg

The abundance of advanced technologically in communication there are always examples of interesting new ways to connect people. One such example is a service called Next2Friends.com, a social networking site which uses any mobile phone platform to allow people to connect and share. So, what's the dating aspect of this service you might ask?

Well, there is something called Next2Friends Intelligent Proximity Matching. After setting up a Next2Friends profile detailing all your likes, dislikes, quirks and everything that makes you the individual that you are. As you move around in the real world, Next2Friends will automatically collect and match your data to other Next2Friends users you came into close proximity with. Naturally, this requires that you have the Next2Friends software loaded on your Bluetooth enabled mobile device. If you happen to be near someone who shares your likes and dislikes, you will be notified. If you happened to miss someone, the system will record all the profiles you were near to earlier. If you decide to meet that someone another time, you will have an idea where to go to try and "bump" into them. Privacy has been addressed with their patent pending privacy protection technology, so you don't have to worry about being seen when you'd rather stay invisible.

Other services include Ask-a-Friend, Live Streaming Video, Online Video Editing and Video Messaging. Although these services are not necessarily dating oriented, coupled with the mentioned Intelligent Proximity Matching, well, let's just say, it would be a pretty high-tech approach to dating. ;) In many ways similar to mobile dating service Dodge Ball, which I wrote about earlier, only Next2Friends is much broader in a sense that it's primarily a social networking service and it relies on Bluetooth technology to do its magic.

If you are a mobile user, why not give this a try. It's free, and it sounds like a lot of fun, especially if you like to mingle during social occasions.
