Dating DNA, the free online dating service that gives its members a special numerical code called dating DNA upon which members can be matched to others with similar traits, has just introduced the latest in their application portfolio - Dating DNA for iPhone. If you are not familiar with it, we've covered Dating DNA here before.

As expected, the interface looks very nice, on par with the overall stylish presentation approach on the iPhone. The web application allows you to browse users, add them to "favorite" list (the "DNA Strand").

We covered Crush of Flush back in December 2007. Briefly, it's a mobile social network but with an additional dimension of flirting between members. Basically, members can rate each other's profiles (pictures) by "crushing" (liking) or "flushing" (disliking) them, but not only that, as there are numerous ways to interact by sharing pictures, chatting and flirting.

They've introduced a new feature on the site. Since members average about a hundred page views a day (it was said the service was addictive), Crush or Flush decided to test an advertising feature on their site called Golden Tickets. Basically, marketers are given the opportunity to introduce and advertise their brand by registering a Golden Ticket, which is a sponsor labeled profile. When members browse profiles they can also see the sponsored profile, usually having to do with the context of their search. For example, a member browsing content tagged with music could be presented with a sponsored profile for 106.1 KISS FM, which used the Golden Ticket option. This advertiser, and some others, has had a positive experience advertising this way, which resulted in significant brand engagement.

By registering for free membership, you can upload photos of yourself. Other members do the same. You get 4 free messages to send, after which you have to purchase message credit (units) before you go to a dating hot spot. There are no detailed profiles because the whole point of the service is "first impressions", as if you really saw someone at a club or bar. Members are directed to Dating Hot Spots, which are basically stylish bars, coffee shops, flash mobbing events, train stations or just about any other convenient location which you and other daters are directed to by Ice Brkr. You can see in advance who is going to be at a particular spot by browsing photos on your mobile or PC. If you happen to see someone you may be interested in, you go to that spot. Once there, upon seeing that person, you can use Ice Brkr to send a message to them, and ask whether they want to make contact. They in turn also see who's just contacted them, and can reply with a yes or no. It's expected singles will respect each other's wish to be or not to be approached. After this technology stops, and normal human interaction takes over.

Players can create matches and set their friends up on dates. The goal is to become the ultimate cupid. You can manage friends' daily activities, set schedules, and pick dates. Additionally, you can customize friends' clothes, accessories and style, to make them even more interesting. There are plenty of things to do but pretty much come down to the usual college non-curricular activities - lounging in the dorm, hanging out at the club, studying in the library (fraternity parties with booze and co-eds … actually no, they didn't put that in… yet ). Just to make things a bit easier to track while playing, you get your own PDA which holds information about what you are doing, as well as information about others' activities on a separate page. Neat!

This game can be very useful because the player gets to learn some things while playing - for example, what works and what doesn't when it comes to matchmaking, socializing, and things like that. Have fun!
