AroundIs - Google Android Dating application

matchnotification_small.pngWhile Google Android is still quite new, there are already attempts to create dating applications for this platform. AroundIs is a Google Android dating application that is going to try to overcome the usual problem of online dating, and especially mobile dating, and that is missing an opportunity to meet someone you happen to like simply because they/you weren't around physically.

Standard dating search enables you to find singles that match your criteria, but AroundIs added additional enhancements such as "in radar range" notification (someone matched is near), real-time chat with them once detected, option to setup date or exchange contacts if you like them.

Things that differentiate AroundIs from other mobile dating applications are, according to them:

  • truly mobile dating
  • truly instant communication
  • no SMS usage, thus the service is free (apart from data transfer charges by operator)
  • secure and discrete (change status from available, to "do not disturb" or invisible)

The application is quite simple and tends to the basic needs of online dating which includes registration, search, status, notifications and bookmarking.

If you use a mobile device with a Google Android platform, you can sign-up for beta testing here.

Chatwall - a unique kind of SMS dating

sms-chatwall_banner_communi.jpg

Haase & Martin, a German mobile solutions developer, has announced the latest version of their SMS Chatwall application. Chatwall works by projecting SMS's onto a silver screen, both indoor and outdoor. Numbers are shown, and everyone present can send an SMS to that number, with messages projected on the wall as well. Pretty neat!

In the latest version (3.0), all party guests can show their own or their friend's photo on the screen, in addition to the short messages. For example "Hey, I'm Mike! Is there a girl here that would like to have a drink with me?". If a girl is interested, she can send her own reply message along with a photo saying for example "I'd like to have a drink with you Mike". Mike then checks his wallet and realizes he is not that prepared for the situation ( just kidding :) ).

Since the screen is visible from most places at the venue, the constant exchange of messages and photos on it attracts attention, and guarantees strong user engagement, so you are bound to meet someone you like quickly.

Sounds like a lot of fun, so stay tuned for a Chatwall party in your town.

IPoint-media will help 3G mobile users to GOvideoDating

inimage.gifNo, this is not bad English, it's the name of the platform that IPoint-media, a provider of high-speed mobile interactive video applications, has released as a way to bring live video into mobile dating. GOvideoDating is basically a platform that enables mobile network providers to easily deploy video dating services on their mobile 3G networks.

The new platform enables 3G mobile users to search and interact with others who use video dating. They can exchange recorded video message, but also take part in live chat sessions with other members logged in at that time, without revealing their mobile phone number. Members will be able to create personal profiles and recorded video greeting messages, and also have access to basic and advanced search options.

MeetMoi - meet singles on the go

meetmoi-logo.gifMeetMoi is dating service which tries to make it easier to meet people while on the go. In case you're tired of the traditional online dating approach where you have to sit in front of your computer, then MeetMoi may be the solution for you. The idea is to speed things up, by allowing users to stay mobile while actually being able to contact other members.

When you end up in a restaurant, at the office, in the supermarket, or in a park, all you have to do is update your location via your cell phone, and see who else is there at the same time. Then, just take a look at their profile, and if you wish you can contact them for chat, flirting, and even arranging a rendez-vous right there and then. Since no one's actual location is revealed to others (only the general area), privacy is preserved. For communication between members, standard messaging rates apply, and from what I've seen on their site it's available through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Boost, Dobson, and Nextel.

Registration is free, and can be done either from your computer or your mobile phone. Sounds like it's worth checking out!
