Environmentally friendly dating
People who are very passionate about nature and the environment often have a hard time finding a date that is just as interested in these kinds of issues.
One Los-Angeles based website tried to find a solution to this problem by introducing a "green" speed-dating event for the first time.
About sixteen singles showed up for this carbon-neutral event that was held on the beach. However the event got off on the wrong foot from the start as most of the singles drove cars to the event with one showing up in a Land Rover.
Of course, the manager from downtown Los Angeles claimed he was trying to sell the gas guzzler but was having no luck. He also mentioned that he drove it rarely over short distances and was very active in other environmental causes.
The Earth lovers were met with an assortment of veggies and fruits. This speed dating event managed to leave out some of the discomfort of regular speed-dating as e-mail addresses instead of phone numbers were exchanged.
The most green person at the event was Francois Jaquet who did not own a car and usually walked to get around. He didn't find anybody "green" enough for his tastes.

A bell is sounded and then they switch to the next position, this is followed by a series of such place changes and people engage in various conversations. Basically these are a series of mini-dates. Any topic can be addressed excluding a person's profession and their address.
I am always inspired by the many ways marketers find a way to promote their products. Volvo, the Swedish auto manufacturer, has just announced their latest effort - test drive speed dating. The concept is quite simple actually - singles are invited to a special speed dating event involving a drive in one of the Volvo vehicles, and then given 8 minutes in the front seats. This took place in Sydney, Australia, but there are plans to expand this to other locations "down under".
Western Illinois University has this type of event, which is organized by the University Union Board. One such event was held last Wednesday in the Western Illinois University Heritage Room. There were many students wearing numbers with name tags, and they were chatting away only after a short time.
To qualify for the forthcoming "Sugar Mamas & Toy Boys" evening in a Manhattan restaurant, women must be over 35, earn at least 250,000 a year or have a minimum of 2 million in assets or divorce settlement. Men, on the other hand, need only be under 35 and submit five pretty pictures of themselves.
