The trouble with dating married men

It is a major taboo, however, many women still find themselves in the sticky situation of dating a married man. There are many factors that make married men attractive for women — they are committed, which makes the thrill of being the "other woman" even greater and sometimes women simply hang on to the promises of love.

"Women who fall for married men are usually seeking attention and emotional support. Since married men seem to be more experienced and mature, they get attracted towards them," says Dr Kamal Khurana a marriage and relationship counselor.

Married men often truly do have quite a bit of experience in giving emotional support and do know the needs and desires of women at times better than single men. Men on the other hand will usually find themselves attracted to another woman if they are not satisfied (emotionally/sexually).

Dating a married man is something that a woman should put a lot of thought into. The other woman usually finds a situation like this the hardest to endure. There is a lot of guilt involved, and you can become stigmatised as "the other woman" possibly turning your friends against you. When a married man is involved than it is not just you and him, but there are the emotions of his wife and children which get pulled along for the ride.
