Romantic mini-breaks - useful things to know

romance.jpgSo you've met someone interesting, been together for a while, done all the local couple stuff. Okay, it's time to do something different so you're thinking about going on a nice little romantic break. Great, but read on and learn what you must prepare for - from both a woman's and man's perspective.

It seems four out of five women (about 84%) expect their partner to dish out the cash for the romantic break, and still keep the right to choose where the couple are going to go (about 73%). Ouch!

It seems the amount of expenses for the mini-break is pretty much the same for both genders, but men mostly spend on accommodation and transport, while women spend on wardrobe, lingerie, make-up.

The most prevailing fear men face on romantic mini-breaks is running out of things to say to their woman (about 32%), while women are mostly concerned about how they will look like to their partner in the morning. :)

Women are more concerned about the actual accommodation (rooms, spa, restaurants) than men.

Find love at a poker table

I posted before about a possible new trend emerging in online dating having to do with bringing together singles through game playing. The idea is to put singles in a situation where they work together and possibly have a better chance to connect on a more personal level, and more quickly. This time, it's an online casino site that has taken a shot at promoting its business to singles looking to have fun and meet others like them.

PKR.com, a 3D online poker playing site, has teamed up with a UK based online dating service LoveStruck.com, to allow singles to play poker games face-to-face. Starting this November (2008), singles with membership profiles on LoveStruck.com will have a kick off for the entire service at a special poker party for PKR and LoveStruck members where they'll be able to meet, mingle, share and learn how to play. The launch party will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Hoxton Pony on Curtain Road, London, UK.

In case you are interested, attendance to the singles poker event is free, but you do have to be a registered Lovestruck.com member. Experts will be on hand at the live poker event to educate guests on the art of the game, before the social part of the business. Following this event, there will be weekly singles poker nights at the PKR.com site where singles will be able to further improve their poker skills, and meet more interesting poker aficionados.

"Love Struck" evenings will be available on PKR.com from November 16, with the initial free to enter tournament, and subsequent low buy-in games. Players/singles will have to be registered at both sites in order to participate.

Sounds like fun, so if you're the adventurous type, and looking to meet someone interesting, this seems like the perfect opportunity to "draw an ace". ;)

Dating on a budget

Most Americans are feeling the crunch of the bad economy on their pockets. Singles are having to slim down their dating budgets. Many are finding the solution in online dating, as it is cost effective and you save yourself from throwing money away at pricey bars and clubs.

Dating on a budget

The problem arises when the online relationship has gotten to the point where the couple needs to meet in person. Dates can no longer run a budget of 100 dollars or more.

Shira Zwebner a relationship adviser has a few great ideas for running a date at about 25 dollars.

With the weather cooling down, outdoor ice skating rinks are opening their doors — most skating rinks offer admission at 15 bucks or less. It is a romantic spot for a date and you get some great exercise at the same time.

During fall hayrides, pumpkin patches and apple picking are an easily available option, and a cup of hot apple cider with your date will only make things even more romantic.

Finally a candlelit dinner at home is not at all difficult to organize. You can work together to cook something delicious and it gives you a great opportunity to get to know each other.

Dating locally and the negative effects

With the world becoming evermore polluted, environmental factors will be likely to filter into the decisions we make on who we date. Most of us would assume that long distance dating has the greatest negative effect on dating but there are many bad aspects to dating locally, as well.

Dating locally and the negative effects

Bar hopping for dates can use up a lot of fossil fuels and most bar tenders probably do not recycle their empty beer bottles.

If you date locally, you are probably more likely to behave like your partner, which will probably decrease the creativity with which you view the world.

The odds are much greater for you to run into an ex, if they are from your area, which can cause a lot of embarrassment and discomfort.

Couples living in the same city will usually end up watching a lot of TV together as they gradually run out of ideas for things to do, and watching so much TV uses up a lot of electricity.

So the next time you are considering dating long distance do not feel apprehensive you might be doing the environment a favor.

Elle MacPherson possibly dating a convict

Elle MacPherson possibly dating a convictAustralian supermodel Elle MacPherson has been photographed on the arm of a man convicted of drug trafficking.

Brian John Burgess, a father of three from Manly, is the owner of a removal company in London. He and MacPherson were photographed together in a car driving through the suburbs of Chelsea. Her new lover is a 56-years-old strapping and blonde.

Reports from News of the World say that Burgess helped 44-year-old MacPherson move recently from Notting Hill to Ladbroke Grove. "The salesman was an Aussie and they were getting on great," says one onlooker.

A friend of Burgess said, "Brian was saying how he had been seeing a new girlfriend for a few weeks." He added, 'I've got to go, she's picking me up.' Then Elle turns up in her car. I couldn't believe it."

Burgess's drug trafficking convictions date back to his days in Sydney, where he was sentenced to four years in jail after pleading guilty for smuggling two kilograms of cocaine into Sydney.
