BeautifulPeople.com coming to Canada!

A new dating service which only allows good-looking people to become members is coming to Canada in the near future.

Greg HodgeThe service is called BeautifulPeople Network and we've already covered it a week ago. To become a member you must submit a photo and your profile, then the opposite sex gives your picture a rating in the span of 72 hours. This rating decides whether you can become a member of this exclusive network.

Their advertisements even feature a ban on ugly people. The managing director says that this is not a reflection of arrogance or vanity but a realistic view of reality.

Director Greg Hodge says, "If you're in a bar in a romantic situation and you're going to approach someone with a romantic inclination, you're going to approach someone you're attracted to, at least initially. There's certainly nothing shallow about that, its human nature."

Flirtomatic, a London based online dating service, has introduced a new alpha version of its interface especially tailored to iPhone users. The new version should make it a lot easier for iPhone users to access and flirt with other members of the service.

Flirtomatic already has about 800 000 members, with some 400 000 in UK alone. With the introduction of the new 3G iPhone, the company wanted to make use of the new broadband capabilities of the iPhone and allow an even faster and improved user experience.

"The development of the alpha version will bring the Flirtomatic experience to a new level that we will be looking to implement with other handsets in the future. This launch underscores our commitment to innovation and rapid evolution. We live in a mobile age and consumers increasingly expect to access entertainment whenever and wherever they choose. This launch provides a service that is quicker and easier to use, bringing us a step closer to our goal." (Mark Curtis, CEO of Flirtomatic)

Find your match using face recognition and matching technology

Traditional online dating relies on demographics and geographical data about people in order to produce a match for your personality. This may change very soon with the introduction of image search combined with facial recognition. Basically, the software, developed by Eyealike, would let you upload a photo of someone you find attractive (actor/actress, rock star, friend's boyfriend/girlfriend ;) ). Based on that you'd be served with possible close matches according to personal preferences for face shape, skin color, and hair color from a database of singles from social networking and dating sites around the web.

Eyealike is now actively searching for dating sites that would like to implement this technology on their platform. Mark Brooks, Editor of Online Personals Watch, commented:

"Having a physical connection with someone is one of the most important components of a relationship, yet a huge percentage of first dates never turn into second dates due to a lack of mutual attraction… Some dating sites will reverse the process so singles can start with a pool of people they are attracted to and then drill down further with specific criteria. This will be a much more fun and efficient means of finding a true match."

Eyealike is not the only one working with this - back at the end of February, we covered Microsoft's patent for face recognition search which is closely related to the online dating industry.

Loveology University - online love coaching

If you've been having questions about anything related to dating, love, relationships, sex or the opposite sex, you could always go and search on the topic on your favorite search engine. There are plenty of articles and books on the subject(s), but sometimes it would be nice to actually hear what you want to know from other people, preferably someone who knows how to explain everything in a professional and understandable way.

Loveology University aims to become such a place. It's a project by Dr. Ava Cadell, and it allows anyone to attend seminars and learn more about intimate topics, but also to become a Love Coach. The "university" offers dozens of courses on subjects ranging from love and communication to kissing, tantra and sexual taboos. Courses range in cost from US$9.95 to US$1999.95.

Courses are taken online at individual pace, or the attendee can choose to work with love coaches, mentors and therapists by looking at their videos and by scheduling short 15 minute sessions or longer sessions if they wish.

Their course catalog includes numerous topics.
