National television puts speed dating to the test

Speed Dating is one of the most popular ways to meet a potential partner. At an event like this, single people get together and they switch partners at timed intervals.

How to Date in 2008A bell is sounded and then they switch to the next position, this is followed by a series of such place changes and people engage in various conversations. Basically these are a series of mini-dates. Any topic can be addressed excluding a person's profession and their address.

This week "The Early Show", an American early morning talk show, held such an event called, "How to Date in 2008." 11 men and woman took part. 8 Minute Dating is the company that organized this event, but the dates were shortened a bit so that everyone could get to know each other over the course of the show.

The organizer of 8 Minute Dating, David Cervini, explained the positive angles and procedures of this type of dating to anchor Julie Chen.

One of the couples actually hit it off quite well and they decided to continue their date after the show. Their tab at a New York restaurant was kindly picked up by The Early Show.
