Speed Dating for University Students
Many university students say that it is getting hard to meet people on campus. Especially since the school is large and there are so many students that very often end up bumping into somebody only once. But, Speed Dating is an excellent solution to this problem.
Western Illinois University has this type of event, which is organized by the University Union Board. One such event was held last Wednesday in the Western Illinois University Heritage Room. There were many students wearing numbers with name tags, and they were chatting away only after a short time.
The event was held at 8:30 in the evening. A folk-music concert followed, so if any of the participants found a match they could get to know one another better afterwards.
The way this type of "dating" works is that you move from person to person, getting to know each other. The catch is, that you only have three minutes to tell that person about yourself.
For those not looking for a date or relationship, this event provided a table for "friends," where food and beverages were provided.
The event went really well and there will be a repeat of it at the university next year with much more advertisement to spread the news. Most of the participants enjoyed the event, and even if they did not find a date, they certainly went away with a few new friends.
