author Candace MackenzieRecently she held a lecture at East Carolina University where she answered university students' questions on dating, and shared some of her advice with the younger dating generation. She talked about the right time and way to kiss, how to get to know a potential partner, and how to break up; even dealing with stalkers was on the agenda.

One of the most important pieces of advice that Mackenzie shared with the students was being happy with yourself is the best way to secure a date, or even a relationship. The way you are feeling rubs off on the person you want to get to know. It is also crucial to be satisfied with your body and to work out any issues you have had with past relationships. She also mentioned that the only way to meet your true-love is to get out and to date a lot of people. Furthermore, she claims that friendship and love are a good basis for a relationship.

Anyone looking for love at first sight, won't find the advice they are looking for from Mackenzie. She is straight forward, and tries to make people see dating in a practical and realistic way.

Drew and Justin - a perfect match?

drew-barrymore-justin-3278.jpgDrew Barrymore and Justin Long have been spotted a couple of days ago on a Hollywood night-out, looking like a "perfect match" couple. The couple met while making "He’s Just Not That Into You", and have been inseparable ever since.

It seems there is more to this, as Drew has reportedly been busy looking at wedding venues while celebrating her birthday on Tulum Beach. Well, it makes sense to take things further, after hitting things off so well. ;)

Matchmaking: Love U - play Cupid on your mobile

matchmaker_loveu.gif

Matchmaking: Love U is a game designed to be played on mobile devices (phones), with a very simple plot - take control of a cupid in training on a college campus. Well, that sounds like a lot of fun already! But there is a lot more to this…

matchmaker-love-u-review-20080327014043073_640w.jpgPlayers can create matches and set their friends up on dates. The goal is to become the ultimate cupid. You can manage friends' daily activities, set schedules, and pick dates. Additionally, you can customize friends' clothes, accessories and style, to make them even more interesting. There are plenty of things to do but pretty much come down to the usual college non-curricular activities - lounging in the dorm, hanging out at the club, studying in the library (fraternity parties with booze and co-eds … actually no, they didn't put that in… yet ;) ). Just to make things a bit easier to track while playing, you get your own PDA which holds information about what you are doing, as well as information about others' activities on a separate page. Neat!

This game can be very useful because the player gets to learn some things while playing - for example, what works and what doesn't when it comes to matchmaking, socializing, and things like that. Have fun!

Social + dating = social dating networks

Dusan wrote an interesting post the other day comparing social networks and dating sites. This got me interested about whether dating service developers are working on something interesting regarding some sort of symbiosis of the two. Here are a couple of service I found that seem to try exactly that:

logo20g.gif
You have to register for free to use any of the numerous features offered: 2.0 search filer, Yes/no match making, Extensive profiles, Own nickpage, Photos & videos, Photo voting, Webcam videos, Large mailbox, Blog & guestbook, Member forum, Privacy functions, International profiles…

socialgrid_logo2.gif
This service allows registered members to enjoy finding Soulmates, Old Friends, New Friends, Classmates, New Friendships, Activity Groups, Study Groups, Business Networks, Blog, Social Network, Personal Web Site…
You can find people using "tag search" (pretty "social network" web 2.0 style), and by the way, check out their search page which features dozens of criteria which you can use to literally pinpoint profiles you may be interested in socializing with, or even dating with.

I think we'll be seeing a very deep integration of social networks and online dating. The connection between the two is so natural that fusion is inevitable.

Rapper Common dating tennis star Serena Williams

CommonCommon is reportedly dating Serena Williams. The pair were spotted being "affectionate", holding hands and kissing during the Easter weekend, according to People magazine. Naturally, no one wanted to comment but something tells us we won't see them together during the next few days. Sony Ericsson Open starts today and Serena is the defending champion. Many want to overtake her position, hence she'll need to be focused as much as she can. This translates that she and the famous rapper won't have much in "common" until the tournament ends.

As a reminder, Williams appeared in the promotional video for Common's single "I Want You" in 2007 alongside Kanye West and Alicia Keys. Why Common went for the tennis ace rather than some of the other two girls is beyond me. ;)
